Active Birthday Party Ideas Kids Can Experience Together
Ten party formats built around getting kids moving, playing on teams, and competing together, with the age guidance, space, and setting each one needs, plus practical tips for planning a party in the Florida heat.
A StrikePoint planning guide based on the hosted activities StrikePoint offers. Published .
Start With the Kind of Fun, Not the Rental
The best active birthday parties give every guest something to do at the same time. Before picking an activity, think about three things: how old most of the guests are, how many will be playing, and where the party will happen. Those answers narrow the list quickly.
Each idea below uses an activity StrikePoint hosts, and each one links to that experience’s full details. Ages, space needs, and settings come from StrikePoint’s current published guidance; anything not yet published is confirmed for your location during planning.

Ten Active Birthday Party Ideas
-
Mobile Laser Tag Mission
Players wear sensor headbands and carry infrared taggers that register hits electronically, so nothing is fired at anyone. A StrikePoint game master sets up the teams, referees each round, and switches game modes to keep the mission fresh. For an after-dark party, the Night Ops add-on ($75) brings LED glow gear and tactical lighting.
- Best for ages
- Recommended for ages 8 and up; adults are welcome too
- Space
- A backyard of about 30 ft × 30 ft or larger for most birthdays; a half-acre or park for larger groups
- Setting
- Indoor or outdoor, day or night
- Great for
- Older kids, tweens, and teens who like strategy and team missions
-
GellyBall Battlefield Party
GellyBall is a lower-impact team battle: blasters fire water-based gel balls, and the impact is often compared to the snap of a rubber band. StrikePoint brings the blasters, protective masks, and inflatable battlefield cover, and hosts the game modes. StrikePoint is an OFFICIALLY AUTHORIZED GELLYBALL DEALER.

IPS Reaction-Game Tournament
A bracket-style tournament built on speed. On the IPS Table – Green, two competitors race to press illuminated targets while a scoreboard tracks each player. How to Choose an Activity by Age
- Ages 5 to 7
- GellyBall and Nerf Battles are generally appropriate from age 5, subject to each child’s size, ability to use the equipment safely, and ability to follow instructions. Water Tag and the IPS attractions are suited to all ages, and the IPS Sport Cones can be configured for younger players.
- Ages 8 to 12
- Mobile Laser Tag (Ages 8+) becomes an option. Kids this age often enjoy a team battle paired with a scored attraction, such as laser tag with the IPS Shooting Gallery between rounds.
- Teens
- Longer, more competitive formats work well. The Elite Ops laser tag package runs two hours and is designed with adults and competitive teen groups in mind, and Night Ops takes the game after dark.
- Mixed ages & families
- Choose activities suited to all ages, such as Water Tag or the IPS games, or combine two stations so younger and older guests each have a good fit.
Planning Around Florida Heat and Weather
Central Florida weather shapes outdoor parties for much of the year. A little planning keeps the fun on schedule.
- Plan shade, seating, and plenty of drinking water for guests between rounds
- On hot days, consider a morning or early-evening start; laser tag runs day or night
- Water Tag is seasonal and weather permitting, and it needs a nearby fresh-water connection
- Keep an indoor option in mind: laser tag, IPS Sport Cones, and the IPS Table – Green work indoors
- Add a backup date to your request; the form also asks for your weather preference
- If lightning, heavy rain, or unsafe field conditions affect the party, StrikePoint works with you on a backup date, another future date, or a suitable indoor space if one is available
Backyard, Park, or Indoor Venue?
-
Backyard
The easiest option for many families. A standard backyard of about 30 ft × 30 ft or larger works for most laser tag birthday parties. Water Tag needs a nearby fresh-water connection.
-
Park or Pavilion
More room for larger groups or longer packages; a half-acre or a community park is recommended for bigger laser tag groups. Some parks require a reservation or permit, so check with the park first.
-
Indoor Venue
A gymnasium, church fellowship hall, or other large indoor space works well for laser tag, especially on rainy days. Indoor setups depend on the venue’s approval, space, and surface.
Practical Party-Planning Checklist
- Pick a preferred date, start time, and backup date
- Estimate the guest count and the main age range
- Choose the location and confirm you have permission to use it
- Check whether a park needs a reservation or permit
- Look at the open space and whether it is indoor, outdoor, or both
- Pick one experience, or two for a bigger or wider-age group
- Note water or electrical needs for Water Tag or the Projection Gallery
- Plan food, cake, shade, and drinks around game time
- Send an availability request to StrikePoint
- After confirmation, pay the $75 deposit to reserve the date
- Share the event waiver link with parents and adult players
- Pay the remaining balance seven days before the event
What to Include When You Request Availability
The more StrikePoint knows up front, the faster we can confirm what fits. The request form asks for:
- Event type, preferred date, start time, and a backup date
- Event city or ZIP code, and the address if you know it
- Where the party will take place, and your weather preference
- Estimated number of players and how confident that number is
- The primary age range
- The experience or package you want, or “Not Sure – Recommend a Package”
- Preferred event duration and anything else we should know
Sending the form is a request, not a reservation. StrikePoint confirms availability, details, and your total first; once your event is confirmed, a $75 deposit secures the date.
